Orthopaedic trauma is any severe injury to the bones, joints, and/or soft tissue that is caused by an external source. These injuries are often the result of a sudden incident, such as a road traffic accident or fall, but not always. Trauma can also be caused by overuse.
Some of the most common injuries that are most effectively treated by an orthopaedic trauma specialist are:
An orthopaedic trauma surgeon will treat trauma to the bones, joints, and soft tissues (muscles, ligaments, and tendons). Despite having “surgeon” in their title, orthopaedic surgeons will only use surgical treatments if necessary. Non-surgical treatments such as physical therapy, rest, and supportive braces/casts, may also be effective for certain traumatic injuries.
We at ROM have highly skilled and quality focused orthopedic trauma surgeons, and serve patients with the most up-to-date surgical techniques to ensure they receive the highest standard of trauma care.
Our team of orthopedic trauma surgeons offers care for a variety of complex musculoskeletal disorders and injuries, including:
Joints of the knee, hip, shoulder & elbow get damaged due to osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, infection or due to injury. Sometimes the damage is irreversible with pain and disability being severe. In such cases, joint replacement helps in relieving pain and helps the patient to move about independently and improves the quality of life. In joint replacement, the damaged cartilage and structures are replaced with metallic and special polyethylene surfaces which restore movement.
At ROM, we offers the following Joint Replacement Surgeries:
These surgeries are done in state-of-the-art operation theaters which ensure sterility of procedures. The implants used are best-in-class imported implants which ensure longevity and excellent results. At ROM a team of specialist joint replacement surgeons with trained staff help in fast and painless recovery from joint replacement surgery.
An arthroscopy is a type of keyhole surgery used to diagnose and treat problems with joints.
It's most commonly used on the knees, ankles, shoulders, elbows, wrists and hips.
Arthroscopy equipment is very small, so only small cuts in the skin are needed. This means it has some advantages over "open" surgery, including:
You might need an arthroscopy if you have problems such as persistent joint pain, swelling or stiffness, and scans have not been able to find the cause.
An arthroscopy can be used to assess the level of joint damage resulting from an injury, such as a sports injury, or from underlying conditions that can cause joint damage, such as osteoarthritis.
Hand care is the treatment of conditions and injuries of the bone and tissues in the hand and wrist. Our orthopedic hand specialists provide expert care for a variety of hand conditions. These include hand surgery, tendonitis, arthritis, carpal tunnel and hand and arm rehabilitation. Just a few of our hand treatments include:
Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) is a common condition of the hand and wrist. Carpal tunnel syndrome starts with tingling or numbness in fingers and thumb, progressing to pain. If left untreated, it can cause such severe weakness. When the diagnosis is made, the first treatment is often simple rest. Many patients need nothing further. Some may benefit from wearing a splint, especially at night or when doing repetitive motions, to keep the wrist from bending and creating more pressure on the median nerve. Oral medications may help ease pain, while steroid injections fight inflammation. Wrist surgery can be an option. Some patients do become candidates for surgery. Even then, there’s a choice. The traditional surgical approach is an open incision through the palm. A newer alternative is endoscopy, which involves routing a tiny instrument through a smaller incision in the wrist.
Ganglion cysts are most often found around the hand or wrist area and are noncancerous lumps. Treatment may involve draining the cyst or surgically removing it depending on the severity and location.
You may hear trigger finger also referred to as stenosing tenosynovitis. It is a painful condition where a finger gets stuck in a bent position and results in painful clicking when trying to straighten it back out.
If surgery to the hand or wrist area is determined to be the best treatment method, our hand and wrist surgeons will utilize the latest technology and surgical methods to help you get the best outcome possible.
The foot and ankle form a complex structure containing 26 bones and more than 30 joints. When an injury or chronic condition disturbs the normal functioning of any of these bones or joints, the result may be pain, muscle weakness and limited mobility. Foot and ankle injuries are common in all age groups and can occur acutely, or develop over a period of time.
Given the complex nature of the foot and ankle, integrated care and expertise are especially important when treating any foot and ankle-related injury or condition. ROM offers a range of treatment options, from non-operatvie care to the latest surgical procedures for more complex problems.
